Engaging Our Employees Working as one team.

Tellabs' strength comes from our people.

With a presence in 80 nations, Tellabs employs about 3,200 people worldwide. To help ensure that working conditions are safe and workers are treated with respect, Tellabs commits to align our business with the provisions of the Electronic Industries Citizenship Coalition (EICC) Code of Conduct and encourages our suppliers to do the same.

Employee Development

Tellabs fosters a learning environment through a wide range of educational opportunities. Tellabs employees obtain the training and development they need, whenever and wherever they need it most (instructor led, self-directed e-learning, live web sessions and coaching). Tellabs employees completed more than 100,000 hours of training in 2008, or an average of 27 hours per employee. We encourage employees to pursue the professional knowledge, skills and competencies needed to excel in their current positions and achieve future career goals.

Health & Safety

A global team of healthy employees ensures Tellabs' continued success. Employee well being depends on a safe working environment and personal health. Tellabs provides our employees with information, tools and resources to ensure their health and safety at work, in the lab, in the field or at home.

Around the world, our health and safety policies and programs help ensure compliance with government safety regulations, including U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and environmental regulations. Tellabs files an annual report of workplace injuries and illnesses with OSHA. During the last 20 years, the company has had zero citations.

Outside the United States, local country safety representatives meet with Tellabs management to help ensure our employees are safe and healthy.

Diversity

We believe that people should be treated fairly and with dignity. A diverse workforce is the key to understanding and responding to the variety of experiences, perspectives, and cultures represented in our markets around the world. Diversity drives innovation and business success.

The company's equal opportunity policy prohibits discrimination based on race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, and/or any other legally protected status for all aspects of employment. Tellabs Code of Conduct specifically addresses professional behavior in a diverse workplace.
