Going for the dunk
During our recent global sales conference, I joined a team that volunteered at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas. That's where I met a 5-year-old girl named Asia.
We were playing basketball, and we practiced some of the basics. After a few minutes, I asked her what she wanted to work on next. Dribbling? Free throws? Passing? No, she was thinking bigger. Like most kids her age, she wanted to go for the dunk.
So, that's what we did. About 10 straight times. And she was beaming. You can see us—and some of the other volunteer teams—in a video we shot that day..
In all, about 400 employees divided into teams to serve 10 charities around the Las Vegas area. Everyone I talked to had a positive experience.
The sales conference is a rare opportunity for customer-facing teams to spend time together. I'm glad we continue to volunteer as part of our teambuilding.
Doesn't everyone love going for the dunk?
