Conflict minerals ... where do we start?

Conflict minerals — tungsten, tin, tantalum and gold — are fueling some of the deadliest conflicts since World War II.

Most of these materials come from mines in or near the Democratic Republic of Congo.  Armed groups are at war to control profits, worth hundreds of millions of dollars every year.

Sadly, no. Slavery, also known as human trafficking, is alive and well. And expectations for business to eradicate this horrific practice are rising.

Yesterday, the Center for Political Accountability released its study of corporate political spending for the largest U.S. companies. It finds that voluntary disclosure of political spending is becoming a mainstream corporate practice.

Answer: No, Tellabs does not make political contributions. Never has. Tellabs believes that directing our resources to core business activities best serves our stakeholders.
