Group Product Line Manager--Tellabs Insight Analytics
Jonathan Abon is group product line manager for Tellabs Insight Analytics.
In this role, he is responsible for product planning, product management, marketing and business development of Insight Analytics Services, a Software-as-a-Service solution.
Prior to this role, Abon held product management, product marketing and market management positions in optical networking, mobile packet core, mergers & acquisitions and global marketing at Tellabs. Previously, he held positions in design engineering and quality in Zenith Electronics and Motorola Mobile Devices. He also founded a technology consulting business.
Abon has more than 14 years of telecommunications industry experience. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from University of Illinois at Chicago, a Master of Science in electrical engineering focusing on neural networks and artificial intelligence from University of Illinois at Chicago, and a Master of Business Administration from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management.

Anyone who attended Mobile World Congress (MWC)’13 will tell you one acronym ruled the event: SDN. ACG Research’s Ray Mota tweeted he was sure he’d find an SDN lunch special on the menu as his SDN-mentions counter neared 300.
Tellabs Insight Analytics is my main focus, so I was especially interested in what mobile operators had to say about network intelligence and how it relates to SDN.

What if a service provider could predict exactly when and where its network capacity was going to be needed?
What if a service provider can view how the network is behaving from the base station to the RNC and determine performance as it relates customers?

I always get excited around this time of year. As much as my romantic side enjoys the romance (and chocolates) around Valentine's Day, the geek in me gets happier towards the end of the month. Because it's almost time for Mobile World Congress.
This year Tellabs has something special to share, something that I know excites my fellow geeks: analytics.
