All-fiber networks: lowering costs and increasing revenues to accelerate broadband penetration

What's standing in the way of accelerating the deployment of all-fiber networks? In most cases, it's high costs and low opportunities for revenue.

The solution to this issue has eluded broadband service providers for years. That said, I foresee great improvements in all-fiber network economics. This is mostly due to the work done by the Gig.U initiative, and the advancements of Optical LAN technology.

4G networks need optical wireless backhaul

As wireless networks evolve to 4G and beyond, bandwidth to each cell tower increases dramatically. This means your mobile backhaul network needs to adapt and grow, too.

What's had the most impact on your network?

A missed optical opportunity

A survey of 400 attendees at this year's Futurecom trade show in Sao Paulo, Brazil, revealed that service providers have a major challenge: how to handle Internet traffic cost-effectively.

That's not exactly shocking news.

The virtuous telecom cycle: good for the environment, good for business

Making networks more green is a goal everyone in the telecom industry shares. The opportunity is so extensive it can be difficult for service providers to decide where to begin.
