Pankaj Shroff
Director of Technology Strategy
Pankaj Shroff is director of technology strategy at Tellabs. In this role, he is responsible for identifying and building strategy for entry into key growth markets in the areas of mobile packet core, mobile content, new-media video delivery, advertising and analytics.
Prior to joining Tellabs, Shroff was chief applications architect and director of solutions marketing at Sonus Networks. He has held a variety of leadership and engineering positions in mobile data, voice and video at Vonage, Verso Technologies, and Philips Electronics. While at Philips, Shroff and his team won an Emmy Award in advancement of TV technology.
Shroff has more than 12 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in computer engineering from University of Pune in India, a Master of Science degree in computer science from Utah State University and an executive education certificate from Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Sloan School of Management.

Last month, I gave a talk in London to discuss what operators have to gain by eliminating dumb pipes from their network. I focused on data from a report Tellabs commissioned through STL Partners entitled "The value of 'smart' pipes to mobile network operators."
The overarching conclusion of the study was clear: By following current network strategies, mobile operators are missing an opportunity to double cash returns, and more intelligent networks are key to increasing shareholder value.

Decades ago, when VCRs became a mass market product, consumers were excited because we could view content previously only available in movie theaters at home. Now, quite the opposite is happening. Consumers are jumping on the TV Everywhere concept. We subscribe to video content at home, and we want to take it with us wherever we go.
