Convergence is a powerful word. For mobile operators, those 12 letters hold great promise. They imply more efficient networks that address today's services and prepare for the arrival of new ones, such as LTE.
The other day, I watched the weather radar on my iPad while we hunkered down during a tornado warning. I had a group of colleagues around me watching it too, calling their families to let them know when the storm would arrive in their area. Did anybody drag a laptop with them? No way.
Appliances beware. Tellabs engineers are on the loose, and they're all about energy efficiency.
Engineers like to take things apart. Many can tell you about household appliances from their youth that suffered the consequences. Tellabs engineers use that curiosity every day—especially during workshops that help them design with the environment in mind.
As kids, we rushed home to catch our favorite TV programs. If we missed an episode, friends gave us the details. Today, there are many ways to catch up: DVRs, the Web, mobile phones…the list goes on.
In December, I read (and participated in) many articles predicting telecom trends for 2010. These stories got me thinking: what's ahead?
