Diveo steals the show with new IP and Ethernet services
Tellabs plays a leading role as Diveo moves to IP/MPLS

Naperville, Ill. – For Diveo, a service provider in Latin America, demand in Sao Paulo, Brazil, was growing faster than its existing network could handle. To widen its competitive lead, Diveo needed to set the stage for advanced services including increased bandwidth connectivity, advanced messaging services and fixed-mobile convergence. So Diveo partnered with Tellabs.

Starring role
Rather than adding to its legacy network, Diveo converted to IP-based infrastructure that uses MPLS (multiprotocol label switching) technology. The star of Diveo's new MPLS network is the Tellabs® 8800 multiservice router (MSR) series. In addition to seamlessly migrating the network from ATM (asynchronous transfer mode) to IP/MPLS architecture, the series helps Diveo:

  • reduce operating costs and electrical power consumption with fewer network elements;
  • reduce its inventory of spare modules since the universal line card supports any service;
  • improve customer satisfaction with stronger quality of service;
  • gain revenue streams by offering new IP/Ethernet services; and,
  • future-proof the network for VPN (virtual private network) and next-generation services.

"The spotlight is on improved user efficiencies and flexibilities for today's and tomorrow's needs," said Rodrigo Oliveira, E&O Executive Director, Diveo. "We started our network migration in Brazil, and we will continue to expand our advanced services offering with IP/MPLS infrastructure in other markets."

Set the stage
With customers and revenue on the line, Diveo had to minimize risks and ensure continuous quality of services during the migration. To stay on script, Tellabs Global Services worked hand-in-hand with Diveo from the beginning of the project. Tellabs' services team helped with network architecture, design, planning, installation and integration.

"Diveo's customers don't need to worry about bandwidth capacity and the quality of their services," said Tarcisio Ribeiro, vice president of sales for Tellabs' Latin America and Caribbean region. "Transitioning the network is not child's play; Diveo chose Tellabs to avoid uncertainties and make sure its networks are ready for the evolving needs of its users."
