Optimum Lightpath and Tellabs partner to deliver low-latency, high bandwidth services

Naperville, Ill., — Millions of dollars travel through the New York Metropolitan Area’s communications networks every hour. With so much at stake, businesses need a trustworthy network that handles transactions quickly and reliably.

Optimum LightpathSM, a market leader in Ethernet-based communication solutions, and Tellabs have built a next-generation optical network to deliver flexible, high-bandwidth services to businesses in Connecticut, New Jersey and New York.

“We are committed to continuously improving our network to enhance speed, flexibility and quality of service for our smart business customers as well as our own business operations,” said Christopher Rabii, Senior Vice president of Technical Operations for Optimum Lightpath. “With Tellabs as our strategic partner, we have capitalized on their innovative optical platform and combined the expertise of our teams to build out a unique network that meets our customers’ needs for high-bandwidth, low-latency services.”

As a result, Optimum Lightpath is positioned to:

  • provide flexible and high bandwidth solutions to meet individual business needs;
  • offer a variety of features from aggregated Ethernet services to optical wavelength services;
  • add integrated time division multiplexing (TDM) and packet switching features;
  • turn up new service and new locations rapidly;
  • improve resiliency, reliability and survivability; and
  • enable new revenue streams.

“With Tellabs® Business solutions, customers benefit from our deep experience in networks and converged services,” said Mark Pashan, vice president and general manager, transport products, for Tellabs. “Businesses can save millions of dollars with low-latency services, because it takes less time for a packet to get from one end of the network to the other. When you handle large financial transactions, every millisecond counts.”

“Businesses get the services and bandwidth they want, when they want it—and they can count on it to be reliable,” said Chuck Bernstein, vice president, North America sales, at Tellabs. “This solution provides competitive advantage, as Optimum Lightpath creates new services and reaches new customers.”
